M&S Food Offers

My recommendations for the things I saw on offer are:
The all butter cookies that retail for between £1.55 and £1.99. They are buy one get one half price and my favourite flavours are blueberry and oat, choc chunk and pistachio and almond.
The Nutritionally Balanced meals are also on buy one get one half price, the prices vary on these from around £2.99 to £5. The Paella is really nice in that.
There are various things that could be kept for Christmas like biscuits in big cartons/tins on offer, should be labelled, various chocolate boxes (good for gifts) on offer at save £2/£3 a box, also some at half price.
Mince pies in a red box are on 2 for £2, normally between £1.49/£1.55 each. Need to freeze them to keep them for Christmas though.
As previously mentioned, the coolbags are 99p and they come with an ice pack as well. Also in some stores they still have those rugs that are also 99p.
I've just had a thought about the vouchers on ebay, it could be M&S staff buying them for more than they are worth. Confused? Well M&S staff get a 20% discount on things instore so even if they paid more than the face value for the vouchers, they could still be saving money.
For example, someone buys vouchers with a face value of £100 for £105. The seller is happy as they have made a profit on the face value of the vouchers, the M&S employee is also happy as they can use those £100 in vouchers to buy goods to the value of £125. Net effect? Both parties happy.

Hollydays, I think I lost myself there re the vouchers. If you really wanted them you could just go into a store and buy them for the face value.
I know of a few people that put into voucher savings schemes so that in late Nov/early Dec they claim back M&S vouchers and use this for some of their Christmas shopping. Other people just use certain bank accounts to do this but not everyone can trust themselves not to dip into these.
Re. the vouchers again, if someone has no use for them but you can put them up on Ebay and get something back for them then why not? Say you got £50 worth as a gift but didn't want anything from a particular shop but you could get £46 back from selling them then you would probably do so.0 -
Thanks- Theres a long thread on offers at M&S here at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=270622&page=2 in which you might want to continue posting.0

The spicy parsnip is lovely!MFIT No. 810 -
As far as I know M&S staff get thier discount through an M&S storecard only... (ie a credit card) so the VERY complicated voucher thing wouldn't work for them...
The reason some vouchers sell for more on ebay as sellers get to spend thier money quicker! It takes 7 days for paypal to put the money in your current account, the vouchers can be in your purse in 2 days! same reason asda, john lewis vouchers all sell so close to the value... people will be spending in there anyway for thier food shopping!0 -
Staff have got a separate staff discount card(which isnt a credit card)and cannot use it with credit vouchers, only gift vouchers.0

i bought some vouchers for more than face value on ebay once - because i had an ebay voucher to use up, so didn't actually pay the auction amount. maybe that could explain it?TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
I'm sorry you have completely lost me with this. Sellers get to get to spend their money quicker? Huh why would a buyer care about a seller getting to spend their money quicker? I can't wrap my head around people spending more money on vouchers than they are worth. If you are going in there anyway you might as well spend the cash. I'm probably missing something but I can't understand this at all. My head is hurting trying to work this out.*flutterby* wrote:As far as I know M&S staff get thier discount through an M&S storecard only...
