Bankruptcy and tax

Hi everybody.
Been a while since I visited here because I've been moving around quite a bit following work and a bed for the night etc. The missus and I have made tentative moves towards reconcilliation which would be great for us and the kids and would meant that I don't have to sleep in mate's caravans etc.
Planning to go BR this week because the business and personal debts I'd racked up to July last year haven't gone away (didn't really think they had, just wished).
Problem I have is that its been a while (3/4 years) since I submitted a tax return. Could somebody tell me whether this is still a debt to be put on my Statement of Affairs or do I need an actual total to date of what HMRC are due?
Some great advice on here and I will be glad to post my BR experiences for others to read.
Many thanks
Ben

You need to work it out as best you can, have you been keeping records of your workHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
Not really no.
Will a rough guess do?0 -
I think you'd be better off getting more accurate figures fromt he tax office, if you should have been submitting tax returns then they will also charge you for the late submissions as well as your payments on account that may be due.
Im assuming yur a sole trader and if about to declare bankrupt its quite likely that you wouldnt have made much of a net profit anyway and so with any luck payments on account wouldnt be too much, although without records and receipts etc you cant claim them on your return.0 -

My hubby was in same position with regards to not knowing personal tax due.
so on his BR forms he put HMRC, Personal tax as the creditor, then his personal tax reference number and 'unknown' in the amount column.
After court and the phone interview, the OR then asked him to take in his 'books' which were his bank statements, invoices and receipts for the last few years (even though the tax returns had not been done)
Hope that helps0 -
Been and gone and done it this morning.
In front of a judge for less than 60 seconds and all sorted. Shockingly simple.
Thanks to everyone who gave advice and best of luck to those out there yet to do it!0
