  • yep, but don't think it makes much difference as you're not on a promotional rate, if they offer you a promotional rate best to clear it first.

Think Martin does explain this a little better in some of his articles but think you've got the jist of it.

Could try checking out the credit card board.
2p off is still 2p off!
  • but if you've got a balance on your card and are not in a 0% period, you're not making money on your debt!

Let's say you're paying 14.9% interest on your egg balance, you would need to earn more than that on your savinsg account to be making anything, and doubt anyone has an account paying that much interest!

Hope all my advice has been of use/is being of use...

Im on 0% on my purchases until March

My 0% balance transfer rate ran out in Jan
  • Have you checked to see if you can simply pay for the new car with your card at the dealer? (assuming its not a private sale). Then it would be a purchase and interest free until March.

    Unfortunately its a private sale...
  • Thom, any joy from Egg? Offered you anything special? Best bet would be to clear the balance on your Egg card and then do a Super Balance Transfer into your current account and pay off your card ASAP and you shouldn't incur any interest if you do it within 2 weeks - depending on payment dates etc

No word from Egg yet... I wait with baited breath

The car may be a shed yet so I may not buy it... we'll see. Thanks for the advice anyway

The girl I spoke to yesterday was hopeless.

Today I got a secure message from Egg stating in fact that my 0% balance transfer intro rate ends on May 1st where my purchases ends March 1st.

Ive just made a one off payment and got rid on the balance for the purchases
  • make sure you keep a copy of the secure message - just in case ...
