3 people interviewed me, and I was asked,

what does safe guarding a child mean
why do i want to work with high school children
what qualities should a teaching assistant possess
what qualities do you have that would suit this position
if you suspected a child was being abused and asked you not to say anything what would you do

    hope that helps some people

    x

My daughter has just started work as a TA in a secondary school this monday. She is enjoying it so much but has to keep reminding herself she has to watch the children AS WELL AS take notice what's going on in the lesson! She loves history and found the lesson so interesting! She's only 22 so probably feels like she's gone back to school to learn! lol

    Well done!

  • Having a working knowledge of current national curriculum requirements
Experience which you could relate to your dealings with learning/ behaviour challenged youngsters
Your key skills (of most benefit to this job of course)
And most importantly, your passion for the job. You've really got to love working with kids and have that show through. Being creative, ambitious and flexible in your approach to dealings with others is a big help.

It's a tough job, with low pay in most cases. As with all jobs with children, you'll mainly be in it for the love :D
The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing
