Mortgage application Halifax vs NatWest. Which is quicker?

I need to make a quick mortgage arrangement. I can consider Halifax and NatWest. How long do they normally process the mortgage applications? I've got a clear credit history, and deposit more than 30%. And I also have a mortgage promise from Halifax if that makes any difference. Does anyone have an experience with these lenders?

Impossible to say without knowing full details, and I wouldn't expect you to do that on a public forum!
Halifax pre-credit crunch were very slick for existing borrowers borrowing less than 75%. Don't know the current state of play though.

I've seen a broker. He says, "it depends, no one knows".
Can a broker help to speed up the process, BTW?0 -
It really does depend on how many applications they currently processing, availability of valuators etc. My recent application through Nationwide went in on 22nd September and was fully approved and offer issued on 1st October, so just over a week.0

Our mortgage advisor suggested we went with Halifax after Abbey were taking too long and becoming very dfficult, she said that they are very good at acting fast under time pressure. They had it sorted within days, this was only a few months ago. We had a 35% deposit.0

I can't speak highly enough of The Halifax. We only had approx a 15% deposit, and the full mortgage offer was issued within a week of all our information being submitted to them as well.
They also sent a moving in box which was lovely if you like nice little touches (as I do!). Good luck!
