Mortgage and student loan

Hi in the near future I am thinking of getting a mortgage for my own place just to try rent out and then maybe move in later

but I have a student loan nearly 13k-14k

Will this be an issue when I apply for an mortgage and if yes how much of a issue will it be?
would it be wise to pay it off quick as possible?

Your student loan payments might be taken into account when calculating affordability, and thus slightly reduce your maximum borrowing.

But, as the payments depend on your income rather than the size of the loan, it's almost certainly not worth paying the loan down - better to have a larger deposit/smaller mortgage.

some mortgage lenders have mortgage calculators on their website that allow you to put in your income, deposit, debts etc and they show what they will lend : why not try a few (you don't have to give personal details)

I already had a go to see how much i can borrow but got along way to save to buy something decent in london

I was thinking putting down a larger deposit by saving every penny I have right now
