"Buy ASUS laptop for retail price"

isn't that like saying "Buy Tesco baked beans for the price written on the shelf"?

    what a load of pants
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • I don't think it's pants. The 3 PCs that are on offer are at cost price not retail price. I've found the best bargain. £775! See news for the other bargains.

It's £1000 every where else on the net apart from one place where it is £900. Considering you get free delivery, a free carry case and a free usb pen I can't see there being many other better deals on the net. Someone else find me one if they can.

a 1.5Ghz mobile pentium with 256MB RAm, 40GB HD and DVD RW for £775? that sort of thing is under £700 at PC world normally
  • I think the OP meant to type "cost price" and not "retail price" in the subject line

on the news page they advertised that they sold one today. they mean that they will sell 3 laptop for the price that they get from their supplier. basicaly no profit for them, maybe it will bring some potential buyers. who knows :)
I have bought my laptop from them after considering all asus suppliers in UK:

PC world might sell similar spec laptop, but its not a brand like Asus. For info: Apple, HP/Compac, Sony laptops are made at Asus factories and branded as requested.

People who is looking for these computers surely can benefit from this offer.

The one with a similar spec I found at PCworld website was a Compaq......so your point is a bit null

(I wasn't advocating buying from PC world just highlighting that the spec of PC offered at 'cost price' was IMO poor and in no way worth £900/£1k as claimed, another alternative is a Dell for a higher spec at a better price)
