Getting rid of ink cartidges (merged)

marts
I have a dozen or so used canon ink cartidges from a IP4000, but I can't find anywhere that will take them for recycling. Some are genuine, the rest are compatibles.

I don't just want to bin them - so what can I do?

these cartridges aren't recyclable due to not having a metal printhead on them. seems such a waste, but i think they'll have to go in the bin unless anyone else knows different.£2 saver club 30th sept 198 £2 coins = £396(£350 banked)0

don't Tesco have envelopes where you hand back your old cartridges and they refill them and send them off to the third world?
Worth asking at customer services?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Try going to a local Cartridge World who collect all sorts, including Cannon ones.

Our local market one stall pays 50p a cartridgeYou can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

The canon ones arnt worth anything as they cant be reused and resold, im sure the market above wont give 50p for Canon carts as they are only 90p to buy brand new and filled0

Might be worth checking on the Canon site as many manufacturers are being pushed into recycling. I have some brother cartridges which i didn't want to throw in the bin but then found that you can print off a freepost label from the brother website and send them back. What they do with them then is up to them but i feel a bit happier!0

any of the local nurseries or schools using the same printers?
They could refill them themselves, save a bit of money, since the print quality doesn't have to be top notch in school/nursery?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I've got a couple of empty cartridges, I don't want to throw them in the bin as I seem to remember that they are of some benefit to charities....is that correct?0

I have a couple of laser cartridges. The office people said bin them but it seems so wastefull. surely they can be recycled or something?[STRIKE]Fed up of being kippered by kids - new resolve - the NO word. Still at this[/STRIKE] Dam they struck again!!
