Cross Poster Subsidisation

Options
There are several posters on here who are single, no kids that earn well below £20,000 a year.

Should those people be paying taxes to subsidise the desire of rich couples on £60,000 or more like carolt and her OH to have children?

Should poor people subsidise carolt's family? 47 votes

I'm using carolt as a pertinent example of someone gaining from the subsidy and who is arguing in favour of it.

There are plenty of others on this board like PasturesNew for example that will be paying the subsidy.

I know this is gonna blow up in my face.

But am really saddended to see you go this way Generali. Especially accusing carol of being racist on the other thread.

Hope you return to form soon and everything is ok in Generali world. :)

I am all in favour of people earning under £20K with no kids, subsidising things so I don't have to.

I didn't accuse carolt of being racist. I said I am not racist so all are welcome to post.

Single parents earning well below £20,000 are not subsidising anyone. The net amount they pay to the government will be noticeably less than the amount they receive in services and benefits.

What you are arguing for is an increase in the amount that families earning (with single incomes) £44k+ subsidise poorer families by.

I don't need to take a position on this to know your argument, and decision to target it at one person, reflects badly on you.

No, actually I'm having a great day. Spring is here and I've taken the week off.

I just don't like hypocrites. I felt pretty sorry for carolt, someone who has taken a vocation rather than chasing the mighty dollar. She can't afford a house as a result and is struggling to get by. She feels real empathy with the poor as she's doing the hard yards herself.

From her posts over the weekend and today it turns out that it's rubbish. She's on what should be a comfortable income, certainly more than I have earned except for a year or two as a nasty capitalist who has taken a load of abuse from poor old carolt for being a wicked banker down the years.

Well you suckered me carolt. You're just another greedy Cava socialist.

Well, at 10 votes in, 90% of posters feel it is wrong for carolt to have her lifestyle subsidised by the taxpayer.

Pretty conclusive evidence I'd say. :)
