Not bad I spose - Considering it's a Sony. However u must remember that the only component that is actually made by Sony in this PC is probably the DVD Drive ;)

One thing to check out is.... if the Hard Drive is a Serial ATA or IDE. Ideally with this spec of machine u would expect a Serial ATA one, as it's newer and faster.

Personally I'd go for a custom built PC, as that way you know exactly what you are getting, so you will know what can be upgraded etc.... With this Sony PC, you will probably not know what components they have used until you buy it and bring it home.

Check out this place: https://www.novatech.co.uk - They have a slightly better spec than this Sony for: £596 (inc Windows XP etc)

    Vortex 540

    3.2GHz Intel Pentium 4 800MHz FSB
    512MB PC3200 400MHz DDR RAM
    200GB 7200rpm Hard Drive
256MB DDR GeForce FX5500 AGP Card
8x Dual Layer +/- DVD Burner
    5.1 6-Channel Capable Sound
    1 x RJ45 Network Port (10/100)
