Has anyone seen or tried to use the 60% discount on laptops etc etc at digital-switch.com until 10th Oct - they have a strange way of paying for the goods through Western Union which all seems very odd - excellent prices if its for real........

Jeez, here we go again.
Don't use the site, it's a scam and you'll never see your money again.Dave. :wave:0 -

Well who the hell deleted the other thread? It was settled when I posted how i'd actually rang Western Union who denied any involvement with digital-switch.com and that it was ALL BOGUS. The thread served to make people aware of this fact. DO NOT BUY FROM DIGITAL-SWITCH.COM IT IS A SCAM! Verified by Western Union Supervisor.0

When they were found out, the scammer(s) started spamming the rest of the board, so all their posts were deleted.
I do agree with you though, the original thread in here should have stayed to warn others. The thread had actually made it onto page 1 of a Google search for the company.Dave. :wave:0 -
You know what... I was wondering what happened to my old posts in the original thread... spent a lot of time doing that investigation work to deduce that it was a scam... I wonder if the moderators will be able to resurrect the original thread minus the spamming...
Just to re-iterate - IT IS A SCAM! don't use digital-switch!0 -
I found the old thread through the cached page on google. They've obviously done a lot of work setting this scam up and seem to be actively supporting it through forum posts.
The cached thread is available if you search "digital-switch.com" review in google.
There's a great post on fat wallet.com. This is quoted form an email sent by digital-switch to someone who'd been through the 'checkout':
We wanted to let our visitors know about this very popular Western Union sponsored offer that will be coming to an end very soon, so you only have a few days left if you want to take up this offer. All the items available on stock and listed on our website are sponsored by Western Union from Oct/01/2010 to Oct/07/2010. All the prices are reduced by 60% because of our partnership with Western Union, only for one week. After the Western Union sponsored offer will expire, all the prices will increase by 60%. As soon as you will order an item or more from our website, you will have only 12 hours to send the payment by Western Union, if after 12 hours the payment is not completed and proof of payment provided, the offer will become null and void. We advise you to order the items as soon as possible since the time of the offer and the stock available are limited. Western Union has offered two sponsored payment options, one for its own advertising and brand awareness and the other for the Yele Haiti Organization.
1.You will send the payment by Western Union without disclosing the purpose of the transfer to the Western Union agent from where you are going to send the payment. It this case, you will only have to pay the reduced price of your order and you will receive with your items the book " Western Union At Your Service Since 1851".
2. If you will send the payment by Western Union and disclose the purpose of the transfer to the agent, you will have to pay the reduced price for your order plus a £250 fee as donation for the Yele Haiti, a non-political movement that has built global awareness for Haiti while helping to sustain the country through short-term emergency relief efforts and long-term programs.IMPORTANT ADVICE This offer is available only for private buyers, and limited to 10 items and, of course, the only payment method available during this period is Western Union Wire Transfer. PLEASE, DON'T TRY TO SEND A WESTERN UNION WIRE TRANSFER BY PHONE, PLEASE SEARCH FOR A WESTERN UNION AGENT NEAR YOU AND SEND THE PAYMENT WITH THE MONEY IN CASH AND A VALID ID.0 -
I might also add that their privacy policy was completely ripped off from Olympia Sports.net (for some reason). Compare the two - word for word alike except for the name at the start. Digital Switch have even left the reference to 'Global Sport' in there (point number 6).
DS's terms and conditions are nearly identical to that of qatartennis.org, which is also similar to Nikebiz.com's T&Cs.
Shipping and returns policy is lifted directly from cordless-phones.uk.com, as is the 'About Us' and the FAQ section. The FAQ section has been changed though - 'Yes, you can order over the phone as well' is now 'No, you can't order over the phone'.
How to make a website look somewhat credible: rip off some details from other legitimate web sites and cobble it all together. Step 2: profit!0 -
Depsite what has been said above has anyone ordered of them?
A couple of google searches showed
findupdates.net/is-this-a-fraudulent-website-digital-switch-com/
You will find one guy swore by them.
ripoffreport.com/audio-electronic-retail-stores/digital-switch-com/digital-switch-com-digital-swi-4f978.htm says he got the product but it was damged due to being poorly packed but they did replace it.
Furthermore, I signed up a bit before and they had way's to pay by credit card.
Personally, I think the wire transfer sounds very dodgy, with no insurance of any kind and fianlly is the who-is lookup whcih say (despite apparentley being around since 2003) only resgitered early septmeber this year.
I suppose it could be a renewal but I am guessing not.
Whilst I would love it to be true I am guessing it is a scam.
Thought the minimum order has been lifted off so if anyone above (anyone below would be more dubious) would like to try it on a smallish cost item and see what happens and let us all know.0 -

One person saying it so doesn't make it safe.
The name of the OP on this thread is the 4th name the scammer has used on this site.
He set one up to pretend to ask about the site, then another 2 brand new accounts to promote it.
When he got shot down, he got upset and got the accounts mixed up and ended up contradicting his own posts. In the end he tried to spam the whole forum and got all the posts and accounts removed.
If you look, there's supposedly blog posts on sites about how good it is. Stupid thing is, he couldn't even keep it original and used the exact same comment, word for word, over several supposed different posters.
Small item or not, why even take the chance?
Do you honestly think they can sell a new Xbox 360 Slim 250GB for £90?Dave. :wave:0
