The Harpers vouchers are very good indeed.

I am always cautious when it comes to buying loads of newspapers just for the coupons. Got five for the Harpers coupon. 2 scanned with no trouble at all at my local Tesco but went to the one 3 miles out of town yesterday. As usual looked for someone who I thought were more likely to cash it. Made the wrong decision. He was one of the loudest SA have ever come across. He was holding a conversation with the woman on the next till. He gave away wads of the sports vouchers to the woman in front because she worked in a school but he would not accept the Harpers coupon. I asked him politely if he could type the number in and he said that would not work. I then offered him a 25p one and that would not work.
I plucked up courage to go to Customer Services and the lady was very helpful. She did not know anything about coupons and went to ask several members of staff and as they didn't know the answer just gave me £2.
That was really hard work. There does not seem to be any consistency as I have read time and time again on here.0 -
So far I am having no problems with the coupons out of the Times - only time they don't get used is when the sa SAYS they can only be accepted if you actually buy the mag - but 10 mins later go to another sa, and they accept them no problem.
So far only used them at Tesco, and all the tills have scanned them fine - haven't tried Asda yet, cos they can be funny about high value coupons anyway.
I didn't bother with the buying the mail, as I still have loads still to use, and a short use-by-date. Plus all the posts about not being able to scan.0 -

I had a young lad try to scan the Harpers one last night and the till beeped, he tried to hand it back to me saying that you have to buy that magazine. I said, 'oh, but this one always scans'....then he tried my next coupon and that beeped too (same as your experience).
Only thing is, I have seen this happen before and it's because they have forgotten to press a button on their till first. I asked him if he had to press a button first to scan coupons, he went 'oh yeah, sorry, it's been a long day'. Then the coupons scanned nicely, as they always do...:oPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I wondered whether perhaps they had to press a button first. Even though there are a lot of us on here cashing coupons I don't think it is done that often. My niece works at a Tesco and she might only cash one or two people's coupons in a six hour shift.0

So should yesterdays coupon scan?. Im confused now, maybe my till operator just didnt push the right buttons on her till!0

About 24 hours too late, but Thursday's Scottish Daily Mail also had a voucher on p39 for a free 5ml sample bottle of Versace perfume from Boots.

(Incidentally, I was in Tesco yesterday and the till beeped too (not with magazine vouchers, just manufacturers' ones) because the girl forgot to press the coupon button. It seems to happen quite a lot then - gave me a fright though!)0
