okay if your like me - we are always rookied big time in january with it being such a long month so have started a "january" box so that i have a good bit of shopping in, i have been buying bits and pieces over the last couple of weeks usually anything thats on "special" and putting them away - so far
6 tins beans,
4 tin tuna,
pasta,
washing powder,
shampoo,
conditioner,
9 loo roll,
2 pckts Flour
2 bread mixes
2 tubes toothepaste,
tin corned beef
this week will add coffee, teabags, and washing up liquid. i stick to the dried stuff as i need every bit of space in the freezer for christmas, next week on the list is mayo, jars of sauces, and cif/bleach whatever i can find on offer, i will also keep my tesco cc vouchers due soon for the fresh stuff so will hopefully need only a spend of £100 for petrol and other bits and bobs

if i find it works will do it again for another cheapo month about april/may time,

I've been doing a Christmas box based on the same idea, putting away long life essentials and other things ready for that tight couple of weeks. That way I can focus on Christmas presents and groceries without having to worry about loo roll, washing up liquids and other niggling must haves that get in the way :)

snap - doing the same thing except its my December sanity stash. I hate, hate, hate food shopping in December, (the queues, the snarly people, the odd bit of snow causing chaos etc etc)and most of the time I go overboard with the supplies and it sees me through most of January.

I do have to brave the crowds to get fresh veg, but I've heard of stayfresh bags or something which keep veg from going off. I might try them if I can find them or I may have been dreaming them.

think you do get them but not sure how long they keep things fresh, sister bought a vaccum packer so keeps a drawer in her fridge full of vaccum packed veg all ready to use, dont htink it was that expensive.

I got the stayfresh bags on eBay, quite reasonable. They really do keep the fruit and veg fresher for longer.

I've never thought of this, but it's a good idea! I might start one for my sister as she always comes and steals food in January. I'm paid every 4 weeks so it doesn't affect me.

Debbie Meyer Green Bags. Sold on QVC but they're also in my local Pound Shop.

What a brilliant idea, and I am so cross I didn't start this two months ago! I shall start a Jan box and a Christmas box too. I already have some pasta sauces I bought in a 3for2 deal, so they can go in the Jan box, but that's all I can claim at the moment
