Just looking at your SOA The AiB caseworker is quite tough you will not be allowed to pluck figures out of the air but will have to back them up with bills and proof

He will take control of any life insurance but it will revert to you when you are discharged
Unless there is any cash value then you will be expected to surrender and put into your Br pot
Same with the mobile phone contracts you will have to break them and include them in your Br

You may well have a surplus of £250 Probably looking at an IPA of somewhere between £125 to £200 per month for 34 months Its only 34 months in Scotland

I know from your posts you are desparate for Br but it is not a walk in the park

He will want your most recent payslips and p60

He will get your bank statements from your bank

He also asks if you have spent more than £1000 on any one thing in the previous six months

Be prepared to fight for everything because he will try and knock it down

Keep all of your bills for electricity and gas and if you mention using extra because of your partners disability He will come back with that is what the DLA is for

I am not trying to worry you but I don't want you going into your telephone interview ill prepared

I did (with a little help from the CAB and he tore me a new one ended up with an IPA of £70) and I thought I had no surplus!!!!

Hope all goes well for you

I broadly agree with the above The only thing is It is not always the AiB who are appointed as your trustee They often farm out the work to an outside firm This may or maynot work in the OPs favour

  • Hi,
If you're diagnosed diabetic and living in Scotland (not sure about England, but I think the same applies), then you're entitled to free prescriptions. Ask at your doctor surgery for form for health exemption certificate, fill it in, and your doc will sign it and send it off for you.
  • at the moment i dont qualify for exemption cert. as i am t2 diet only
i think i should be on tablets getting more blood tests end of the month, my wife has exemption cert.

New Certificate of Sequestration comes into force on 15 November 2010 (in Scotland)
    Aimed at
    Home owners with low equity
    Limited income and large debts
Creditors not willing to take court action
Therefore unable to prove apparent insolvency
    · Not eligible for LILA
Authorised person (money advisor or insolvency practitioner) will need to certify that, on the basis of information provided, you are unable to pay your debts as they become due
You then have 30 days to apply to Accountant in Bankruptcy for sequestration.
    Still costs £100 (not refundable!)

Sorry, but you don't get a discount just for being on HR DLA. Some disabled people may get a discount if the house has been adapted to meet their needs.
