My daughter needs to upgrade her guitar from the yamaha she has had since she started to learn 2 1/2 years ago . She is now working on grade 7 and 8 music and needs something better. My budget is max £800. I have had a look around guitar stores but the classical guitar selection seems to be very limited. her guitar teacher is going to help but wondered if anyone had any recommendations>

If you are willing to spend that much money then it would be best to choose from the widest selection you can find and take your time doing it. With the the best will in the world, no general music shop (and not many guitar shops come to that!) will have a good selection of classical guitars in this price range, so it would be worth your while finding a specialist and visiting - even if it takes a day trip to do it.
I certainly wouldn't recommend buying an instrument in this class without seeing and trying it first.
Hope that helps.0 -

Amalio Burguet is a Spanish guitar company and their guitars are high quality and reasonable prices. Their Model 3 Spruce classical guitar is about £800. Some music shops sell them and is worth maybe trying one out. My best bit of advice is to try an instrument before you buy it! Good luck and I hope your daughter carries on doing so well with it.0

Thanks for all the messages. After days of looking around guitar shops and internet sites we found a little Luthier in Biggar so went down for a wee look around. They had a Manuel Rodriguz DRG guitar that someone had bought but not wanted. It was brand new and my dd fell for it as soon as she played it. SHe has it for a week to let her guitar teacher give it the once over but it sounds really good and the detail on it is beautiful. She had originally wanted to get an Alhambra or Raimundo guitar.
