Is 864 a good enough credit rating?
Hello
I have an 864 credit rating which is classed as 'Fair' - 880 is good.
I was wondering if anyone thought this was a good enough credit score to a lease a car?
Unfortunately I do have other debts and did get into some financial difrficulty about 18 months ago but i have everything under control and have not missed any direct debits or payments in about 12 - 14 months.
My husband however has a poor rating and also has 2 x ccj's.
i really don't want to apply for a lease and get turned down as then i feel like it will affect me even further to get a rejection.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.

credit ratings are pretty meaningless as every lender has their own criteria.
what is your income, your others debts, any defaults, the amount you want to borrow, anything dodgey on credit history.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
No.
It needs to be at least 865.
Then the world is your lobster.0 -
The number is something provided by a company that doesn't even lend money. So while it may be sueful as a guide it is impossible to say whether it makes you credit worthy or not.

Credit records remain for 6 years. So your difficulties will still be on file.Unfortunately I do have other debts and did get into some financial difrficulty about 18 months ago but i have everything under control and have not missed any direct debits or payments in about 12 - 14 months.
If he's financially linked to you (e.g. joint account, joint mortgage etc) then this will cause you problems. My husband however has a poor rating and also has 2 x ccj's.
Being rejected doesn't impact your rating. Multiple credit searches in a short period of time can do. Applying for loans with a couple of providers is unlikely to make your rating worse.i really don't want to apply for a lease and get turned down as then i feel like it will affect me even further to get a rejection.
From what you've said, I'd be surprised if you could get credit from a mainstream provider though.0 -
864 is a low score. People with a score north of 950 are being refused by mainstream lenders. Though I agree with the others that the score is pretty meaningless in real life.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I am leasing a car through SEAT Finance and was only discharged from bankruptcy a year ago. It is a business lease so may be different to consumer but they did credit check me first (instant approval). If I can get one, I dare say anyone can.0
