News Today - Mortage Offer Concern

I am expecting the underwriter at Abbey to finish looking at my change of property application on Monday. When I originally sent through the form, they said they needed extra documentation to confirm my husband's disability benefit payments (because their documentation policy had changed since we first applied in July). I thought this was a bit unfair as we already had an underwritten offer. In the end, they waived the requirement as we don't have any up to date benefits paperwork.
Having seen today's announcement that there is definitely to be a major overhall of the benefits system in the near future, I am now worried that either I'll get a call on Monday saying they now can't offer me a loan, or even worse, that they might rescind the loan offer when I am further down the line towards exchange.
Are either of these scenarios likely/possible - would be especially interested in the broker opinions!? This house buying experience has been a nightmare from the start - starting to think the whole thing is jinxed!
