Am "doing up" a cottage near Aviemore but am I going to have to hire a van and bring skirting boards etc. down from Inverness or is there somewhere local where I can get plasterboard etc? Would really appreciate any information.

There is a Howdens in Aviemore they should keep plasterboard. They might not serve the public but go in and tell them you are a property developer and they should be ok.
    That mrs macchicken to you!

I'm sure most of the builders/timber merchants in Invenress would be able to deliver anyway ;)
