Hi I have thought about getting another longer term 0% card but I think if I use my MBNA card (£5400 limit and empty - has been for some months yey!)it makes better sense at the moment - I have 0% on purchases until end Jan 07 so that means we pay it off at a rate of around £700 per month - think we might be able to do it with our rental income we have (we rent our house out while we live in a forces married quarter though don't make too much after the taxman has had his share and we've paid the mortgage).
We have looked at the figures and I think it is just about doable, our xmas is going to be a frugal one anyway. We'll wait and see though!Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
Hi Themaccas!
Thanks for posting your debt diary - I have found your progress particularly inspirational over the last few months :j (particularly as one who has also kept her hairdresser's appointments:rolleyes:, albeit having cut it from every 6-8 weeks to every 12-14 weeks!;)). I find your posts inspirational - you are paying off a phenomenal amount, whilst still maintaining "a life" , and I am very grateful to your for doing this...!:T
Good luck for the next few months - I hope you reach your targets and will be keeping an eye on your progress in order to keep me on the straight and narrow!:D

We've had some really great news today, we were just getting ready to pay for the course OH wanted to do for when he leaves the forces when someone at work commented that they thought the exact same course was being run at forces base nearby by an external training company that are CIPD accredited. OH was immediately on the phone and.....he has been offered a slot on the course - free:T . The only problem is he has missed the first 2 days that were run last month and he needs to have some individual private lessons to make up this time and that could cost around £1000. He will negotiate MSE style of course and there is a small chance his work might pay. However this has saved us a massive £3,700 even if we end up paying the £1000. I can't believe the saving and the fact my MBNA cc will remain intact. Yay:j

Hurray! Even if he has to pay the £1k, that's still a huge saving. I'm really pleased for you - I'm enjoying reading your thread and I wish you luck with your debt repayment."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

This is the first time I have read this one... don't know how i missed it.
Great news about OH's course. I hope you get the reduction in the initial tutition fees as well.
Looking forward to reading your diary.0 -
Fantastic news. Sounds like you have a good chance of negotiating a reduction in charges too for the extra tuition. good luck to your OH over that.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

Thanks we pleased about that especially as we have been paying alot of extra bills this month ie Flights to NY (whoops!:o ) car tax (£195), school trips, DS passport (£51) before they put fees up and we are nearly cleaned out with our bank account, in fact it looks like we have around £70 to last us the rest of the month until payday on the 25th. We need to pay for petrol and food shopping so I think we need to get creative as I need petrol for work next week (£25). Its going to be the 'Cheap Eats' cookery book and I'll menu plan from that. i just need to stay away from DD's xmas craft fair tomorrow at school and they have such lovely things it was a bit of a downfall pre LBM for last year, I need to leave my purse at home!Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0
