Should I be worried?

Have just changed the property we're buying - same mortgage deal. The lender (Abbey) have been a bit rubbish before, but this time wanted to see an up to date payslip for me. I thought this was reasonable as we originally applied for the mortgage in July and so the payslips they've seen are now quite old.
They then wanted to see proof of my OH's income. Now, our situation is complicated, in that part of our income is made up of OH's disability benefits. They said their rules have changed and that rather than the bank statements they accepted as proof of income in July, they now need recent letters from the DWP. I explained that DWP doesn't work like that, and that the letters are only sent out when initially confirming benefit, or confirming a change in amount paid - for us, there would be no 'recent' written communication. They ummed about this for most of today, then told my broker they would waive the requirement and accept the bank statements.
My concern (if you're still with me) is that they may change their minds about this, or get picky about what income they'll take into account AFTER they offer us a mortgage or, even worse, after exchange. Is this something I need to worry about?

You can get a letter from DWP confirming the entitlement to DLA by ringing up and asking them. Tell them that you need it for a mortgage application and they will duly oblige, takes about 7-10 days to get to you though ...If you don't have 'owt important to say then don't say 'owt ...

Oh, right. We have two types of benefit for OH (DLA and Incap) so I will look into calling the departments up to get a confirmation letter. At least that way, if Abbey do change their mind, we would have the correspondence in place.

They may fax it to a jobcentre if the jobcentre agree for it to be done
I would go in and explain the situation and see if they can help. 0 -
Rules have not changed since you applied.
They have always wanted confirmation of the benefits, to such an extent, that even if there are blank pages in the benefit statement, they want those blank pages too!I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I have an email sent to my broker from their underwriter stating they would accept bank statements and waive the requirement. Interestingly though, they have now come back to say they need them after all - in full - just as you say. Somebody has been extremely incompetent and wasted my time.
I have sent through the paperwork in full (latest letters) although they now seem to think the child benefit letter has extra, missing pages, when it doesn't!0
