Sale or VAT rise!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I will be looking to buy a new kitchen after Christmas but am concerned about the rise in VAT. (Does it go up on the 1st of Jan?)
Don't know whether to look for one before the sales start and miss the rise in VAT or wait for sales and have to pay the extra VAT
I wondered if maybe they will bring the sales forward a bit so as not to lose any trade.
What does everyone think would be the best option?
