How and where etc would you get a sample or two of tap water in Belfast tested to see if it is drinking water etc? Our tap water tastes unusual and needs tested for anything out of the ordinary but have no idea where to go, how much it is etc so all help much appreciated :)

A full analysis of metals, biologicals, nutrients and trace organics would be about £250 - £300. The most expensive bit is looking for trace organics so you can get a quotation without that.

If you want to talk to anyone about it PM me. There are a couple of places at Queen's that you could use.

Enironmental Health do water sampling in certain circumstances. Might be worth a call to our local Council.
• It would be best to give your local MP/council a call.
Is it the water from your household taps you have worries about? It sould be perfectly safe to drink etc so it is important to have someone out to test it, without any cost to yourself, if you have reason to think otherwise!

I NEVER drink the tap water in Belfast. It's rank.

I used to live in Newry and the difference in water up here when i moved is unbelievable.

Yes, the problem was ongoing for a while when the delivery pipe in the road outside kept bursting and affecting supply to a couple of neighbours also but it's got to the stage we need an independent viewpoint.

• NI Water will provide a free detailed (2-3 side) water analysis for your supply zone if you contact Waterline on 08457 440088 or email waterline@niwater.com

I wouldn't contact a 3rd party and pay for an independent report until I have a baseline.
