Money Moral Dilemma: Should we have to pay the vet bills?

  • Reads like neither party want to pay for the medical care of the dog. If money is a problem but the love for the dog is there, then take him to a PDSA clinic to which animal lovers donate to provide vets for pets. Otherwise the dog should be rehomed via RSPCA or other canine charity. I agree with the contributor who suggested pet insurance as a good way of keeping a handle on the bills. Little illnesses which are neglected can soon turn into serious illnesses.

Can only go to PDSA if you get Housing Benefit or Council Tax benefit then it's donation based but they do suggest £5-10 min per apt and £20 min for ops or procedures. They need about £200 a day in order to keep going as they get no Government funding and only accept a maximum of 3 pets per household.

This I know from experience as I am a client I have 3 cats and can't work due to Chronic heart failure and degenerate spine and couldn't afford private vet fees can't get insurance as 2 have Asthma and are all over the age of 8 which is classed as older pets (2 age 12 1 age 10)
  • Why have you not addressed this issue from the outset ? If you cannot afford to keep the dog tell your inlaws and make them a present of it.
  • My grandfather was against health care for animals. He would put them down himself. I agree.

Put the thing down if it is sick.

Thank god we're not all like you would you put your child/grandchild down if that were sick too? That's why we have doctors/vets to make the sick well again
