"Over 90% of the Times Rich List hold the majority of their fortunes in property."

Ive had 3 emails today saying the same thing (im on their mailing list) so am just wondering, does the above statement still ring true after the credit crunch? is 90% of weath still in property?

People make money and then shove it in property.

People compare their wealth in terms of how much property they own/or is worth.

so is 90% of wealth still held in property even after the global credit crunch/recession?

investing in property is always a gamble - the house always wins

I would imagine that anyone self made on the Times Rich List holds the majority of his or her fortune in shares in his own company.
  • Wealth in property can be anywhere from 46% to 94%

& that 94 is with 9 out or 10 of them having 99% (majority) of their money in property as opposed to 100% (all).

Good point. It would be reasonable to say that all assets are by definition property so every person alive holds 100% of their wealth in property of one sort or another.

The statistics are totally meaningless without a definition of "property"
