disappearing mortgage broker

I am wondering if anyone can help. Ive tried to claim back my shortfall for endownment policy that matured a few years ago and apparently you can still claim the shortfall.
The FSCS has been trying the find my mortgage broker, they have not gone into liquidation or declared themselves bankrupt!!!! but the have just disappeared off the face of the earth. I have been informed that it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack to find the directors of the company but if I can find them I can persue the case again.
Has anyone come across this before and has anyone got any advice on how to find where they are??

Have you searched them at the Companies House website https://www.companieshouse.gov.uk ?If you don't get what you want - you'd better hope you want what you get

Why not ask the insurance company for the name and address of the agent they were paying the commission to.

it was taken out around 1990, not sure of the exact date0
