Good Mattress for £150-£200

Hi all i've been looking at getting a new Double mattress this past week and im struggling to find one.I got a new bed 6 months ago and with it a DeepSleep Windsor Mattress which i can't seem to get on with (The springs seem to have a mind of there own when no ones on the bed)

Can anybody recommend a good bed i'm torn between getting a memory foam mattress & a memory foam sprung mattress I've seen a few with 1000 pocket springs not that i have a clue what it means :rotfl:

For £150 - £200 you won't get a good quality double pocket sprung, or pocket sprung and memory foam mattress. The only thing you are likely to find that is good quality would be open coil sprung, or open coil sprung with memory foam.

IKEA do a great range of good price mattresses at the price points you are looking at. I had the following off the IKEA internet site....

Actually Ikea mattresses are terrible quality and specification.

Also the ones you just quoted are continental sizes and not UK.

I disagree about the quality they come with a 25 year guarantee and a 90 day try it to see like it policy.
The 'spec' thing is all smoke and mirrors by those wishing to part you from £1000 for a 'comfi spring system bla bla 1000 coil mumbo jumbo mattress' totally impossible to compare specs fairly as they all use brand jargon. Best way is to get on the mattress and try it out.
The size thing is also a myth as IKEA sell uk sizes if thats what you want, i prefer euro as they are bigger so you get a more bed for your money.
Me i'd rather save money as that really helps me sleep a lot better.

You may not agree, but it is a fact. Ikea manufacture for high quality and low cost.

Their 25 year warranty is more or less worthless as you would find if you tried to take advantage of it. There are so many terms and contitions attached that most people won't qualify. So it is more of an advertising ploy.

As for 90 days to see if you like it, well most mattresses feel comfortable for the first 90 days regardless of quality.

What you say about spec is complete rubbish I'm afraid. I'm not talking about all the useless gimmicks that are often used in the bed industry like pillow tops and non turn mattresses. I'm talking about the basic construction of the mattress. If you actually know the bed industry then it is easy to compare products, and I do.

Just one example is the so called latex that Ikea use in some models. Well they actually use synthetic latex which doesn't have properties anywhere near natural latex. It doesn't have the same feel, it doesn't give the same support, and it certainly doesn't have the same cool feel.

Ikea only actually do UK sizes in a few models, so it isn't a myth at all.

There are many UK manufacturers who sell 1000's of continental size mattresses to owners of Ikea beds because the customers can't stand the Ikea ones, or they haven't lasted, and they think that the Ikea ones are so bad that they don't even want to bother trying to replace it under the warranty.

You may sleep better having paid less, but a couple of years down the line you may have trouble sleeping on a mattress that doesn't give good support.

Thanks for the input both i will pop along to Ikea at the weekend and see how there mattresses feel.I've been looking at Calypso Memory Foam Sprung Mattress which seem to have good reviews

The Calypso isn't what it used to be as the spec has been lowered.
