Hi

My husband and I are looking into becoming fostercarers. short term for 0 -2 yr olds. is there anyone out there who fosters and can give us advices. pro's and con's that sort of thing. what to expect. we live in the borough of hillingdon.

no advice from me i am afraid, but i wish you the best in this very worthwhile job. I couldnt do it, i would get too attached to the kids i looked after.

Can't give you any advice alyssa_mae, but I have a toddler that you are very welcome to practice on . Actually I really wouldn't swap him for the world.

I wish you both lots of luck in what I imagine is a very worthwhile but difficult thing to do.

A Google search for fostercare support group came up with about 4000 entries ... including a link to one which gives discounts to foster carers!

Ask your local Social Services if they can put you in touch with local foster carers: they want you going into this with your eyes open.
