expnditure form 6.28

Options
Hi,

CAn someone please advise me if I should be completing this form with just MY expediture or the total household expenditure.

On the form it asks if anyone else is contributing to the household expenses?

As my husband and I have a joint account and therefore share the expenses, do I put in my husbands total salary and then mention ALL household expenditure both mine and his.

Or do I not mention his salary at all and just note MY expenditure?

Won't they question the bank statement?

I am confiused as what to do. Even though it is me going BR NOT my husband it seems I should mention total household outgoings is that right???

The form is very very badly designed and doesn't make it clear.

You can take either approach. You can either.

    1) Put his whole income, and on the expenses put the whole value of the bills.
    2) Put just what he pays towards shared costs, and in the expenses just put the share that you pay.

The wording of the income question suggests (2) is correct, but the rest of the I&E section makes it seem that (1) is correct.

The only real thing to do is to just pick and go with either all of (1) or (2) and make it clear on the forms what the figures actually represent.

If your OH is not comfortable with disclosing his income, then maybe (2) for now.

If for some reason the OR gets the wrong impression on the figures, you will have the chance to go over them and sort t out in your interview. So it's not absolutely critical now. :)

  • Oh thanks for the advise. So just to be clear my salary is 60% or totl household income and my OH is 40% so:

    1) put my OH wages and then TOTAL household expenses regardless of who pays what

    2) put my OH contribution towards any shared costs (40%) and then enter my expenses and total shares costs.

Option 2 makes more sense as my OH also pays for my daughters cars insurance (as a gift!) which would be frowned upon if included in the BR wouldn't it? So would rather just show mine and total shares costs and note just what he pays towards shared costs.

Phew I feel a lot better now :)

    Yup. Whichever suits you.

As said, it's unclear what exactly they want to do, so in the end interpret in in the way that is best for you.

If the OR needs more, they can ask. ;)
