Annuities Conversion

I have a small annuity with STANDARD LIFE and wish to convert it to a cash sum, the amount involved is less than £9000. STANDARD LIFE will not entertain it saying its not their policy. Following the recent pension changes do I have a right to ask for my money? I am already a pensioner in receipt of a good pension from the Navy and from my previous employer plus state pension, serps and Graduated Pension. The amount I get from STANDARD LIFE is miniscule and I could make better use of the Capital, can I demand it?

If it is a compulsary purchase annuity then you cant change it. Once in place, its there for life.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
