Hair Dye Problem

Hi there
Anybody know how soon you can try to 'redo' a home hair dye? Tried a slightly different L'oreal product to normal yesterday to try and cover roots but it has made my (previously) lovely blonde hair go a muted shade of light brown/pale ginger, looks dreadful. If I go back later today and redo it with my usual box does anybody know the likely results. If there are any hairdressers out there I'd be grateful for your advice. Thanks.

Don't do it. Go to a hairdresser and get the colour corrected properly. There are loads of threads on here from people who did what you're proposing and made an even bigger mess.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -
O crikey, what a mess I've got myself in. I'm on benefits and sadly can no way afford a trip to the hairdresser.....0

I found myself in a similar mess last week.
decided to go from violet to red, but it ended up turning my roots very ginger, whilst the rest was very dark.
I did risk it and bought a dark brown to cover, and did it a few hours after the red disaster, and it does look ok, and people have even complimented the colour. I didn't know how it would work on mine and I got lucky, so the risk is yours0 -
What's your usual hair dye? I don't see much risk to be honest- if you were dying brown over bleach blonde then they'd be a risk of you hair turning a horrible ashy colour or at worst green, but dying (I presume) blonde over light brown/ginger should simply lighten your hair to the correct colour.
Hopefully a hairdresser will be around shortly to give you professional advice. If it were me I'd risk it anyway as I can't afford the hairdressers either (and I'd wear a hat if I messed it up!)
You could also give L'oreal a call, explain what's happened and they might be able to give you some advice as to what to do?0
