Allders, Leeds. Shop closing sale

The Leeds branch of Allders is closing down, as no-one else has shown interest in taking it over. (Shame, we could do with a John Lewis in Leeds, as the nearest of their stores is in Sheffield).

Anyway, they have started a closing sale in all departments, except some of the concessions. At the moment, they are giving 10% off their last-marked
price. As this is on top of many of their sale prices, including some Blue Cross
offers with 20% off sale prices, there are some good bargains.

My guess is that they will progressively lower prices on leftover stock, so there might be some interesting developments later.

The Allders website lists the 10 stores which will be having closing down sales as no one has come forward 'yet' to take them over.

    Bolton
    Chelmsford
    Horsham
    Ipswich
    Kingston
    Leeds
    Oxford St, London
    Reading
    Romford
    York Clifton Moor

Looks like my closest store (Southampton) will be taken over, but if you live near one of the above stores looks like you might be able to get a bargain.
  • Is the the Leeds city centre branch or the Kirkstall outlet branch ?

The Leeds branch of Allders I visited was the one on the Headrow. I don't know about the Kirkstall one.

I saw an advert on the TV tonight basically saying in adminstration and big reductions in store- obviously selling off what stock left to settle debts etc.

I would personally advise if you want to go and try and find a bargain that you pay with your Credit Card (Visa or Mastercard). If whatever you buy turns out to be faulty, it is pretty certain Allders (the legal entity they are now) will not be around to refund you or otherwise compensate. If Allders is bought out it is also likely to be bought with no liabilities for current contracts.

This means the new company is not legally responsible for your faulty goods. If you pay on a credit card (over £100) you can pursue the card provider instead.

    Happy shopping
