I suppose there is no chance of them agreeing to a company credit card for these expenses?
Or might they agree to prepay you a certain amount of expenses (say £300) which you could put on a pre-paid credit card. You could then put all your expenses on that card and then when you get your expenses refund use it to top the card back up again. Perhaps if you signed an agreement that should you leave and still owe the £300 it can be deducted from your final wages.
Obviously this depends on how approachable your company are, but if they knew you were unable to get a regular credit card they might agree to something like the above. Or as the trips to scandanavia have started recently it would seem a reasonable time to argue that its not reasonable for you to have to incur so much cost in advance.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for the tips on the shopping - my wife and I are pretty useless at planning ahead for meals and frequently go to the supermarket hungry, which is a fatal error!
The difficulty with the expenses thing is that this month I have spend £300+ and will not get it back to the middle of October. However the following month it might only be £100. Because it varies so much it is very difficult to keep a suitable amount in reserve. I have recently started going on work trips to Scandinavia, which doesn't help as it is the most expensive place ever!
I think in the long run I need to strike a balance - pay off a bit more on my debts, but allow myself a bit of entertainment to prevent a black hole of depression!
I was going to say the same as Tixy, when you get your expenses next month, especially as it's going to be a high one, put it on a pre pay credit card and then just use that for work expenses.
I agree with the others, groceries are really high, even for two (I'm assuming that's the total cost not just half?), as is entertainment, especially since you have sky. What sort of things are you doing for entertainment, maybe there's a cheaper way of doing it?
And I really don't think your wife needs the heating on all the time, I live in a poorly maintained flat and last year didn't have the heating on till nearly December. Thick jumpers and slankets are great! But you probably don't want her to miss out because of your debts.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
