Diamond Car Insurance

I currently pay the above through a DMP, and have contacted them on several occassions to get an updated balance and also offered a F&F payment. At no point have they responded to my letters.

I was considering cutting them out my DMP and letting the other creditors have there money, this may actually generate them to respond to me. What do you all think?

  • I think its a bad idea.
Non payment of car insurance will obviously invalidate it and render your car useless.

How have you contacted them? Perhaps be sneaky.. ring them up and act as if you're shopping around for renewals.. ask what current price is, and how much is left on the bill.?

If i've got this completely wrong.. then just ignore me :)

  • No this is not my current car insurance, it is a bill from about 5 years ago.

How have you contacted them to find out the balance? In writing? sent registered delivery? if you haven't done that I would do it, it might trigger something from them- you might also want to quote OFT debt collection guidelines - there is bound to be something in the guidelines to cover this. (Edit - http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/consumer_credit/oft664.pdf section 2.2e)

It is unfortunately not uncommon for a creditor to ignore F&F offers but they should be providing you with a balance.

Are you self managing your DMP? or is someone doing it for you?

  • I have my DMP with CCCS. I have sent letters and also sent emails requesting my balance. I got some letters in a few months ago with balances which i'm guessing were due to CCCS requesting these, but Diamond again were not one of them.

You might find CCCS unwilling just to stop paying them (I'm not sure). Have CCCS advised anything so far? have you checked whether they have written for a balance recently?

Perhaps try one more letter and state that if they do not comply with your request you will make a complaint to the OFT and cease payments to them until they provide this information.

  • I'll try that thanks Trixy
