Hi after some advice, i checked my credit report for the first time today and found that i had a red area from 2008, were i missed 4 payments from cancelling a direct debit.
it was when i took out a contract from phones 4 u and long story short i never got a phone or activated the account due to an error on there side, i then got letters off o2 saying i owed over £900 from the contract that i no longer had, i battled with phones 4 u to get the money off them and after 2 months i got it. but only after o2 had passed the debt onto a collecting agent. phones 4 u sent me a cheque and it was all paid off. never thought any thing of it.
now ive come to the point were i want to buy a house and feel this is going to let me down, its showing up in red on the credit report even though it was settled.
as it wasnt my fault can i dispute this?
as it was 2 years ago i have no letters or details other than a bank statement showing the money coming into my account from phones 4 u and money going out to the debt collectors.
any advice appreciated

Dispute it before applying for a mortgage. Ask the Credit Ref Agency how to challenge and raise a dispute IN WRITING with phones for you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
