    hi everyone
I am sooooooo sorry to have been missing for so long. I haven't had the time or inclination to make anything recently so not had anything to contribute on here. however...I have now made my first Christmas card so this could be the revival of my mojo! I have also been sent a few craft robo files so have been playing with that - thank you:A.
if it is OK I would like to enter my Christmas card into flying_fresians challenge and say a big thank you for this challenge as hopefully it has given me a kick to start my Christmas cards:j

I will catch up more tomorrow but just want to say rusty will I be allowed to sit down when I come to your house:rotfl:

  • Hello everyone, we had such a great interest from everyone on this thread the last time we ran a giveaway I thought I would drop by and let you know that not only do we have another prize up for grabs, but we are going to be giving away a prize every week for 4 weeks and then one every month.
To enter the draw all you have to do is sign up to the newsletter. Don't worry you won't get masses of junk mail from us, just a newsletter once a month or so.

    Best of luck

    Good morning folks,

I'm going to end the Festive Fun challenge at 12 noon today as I'm off to town after that. I will be at the Post Office this afternoon so can send out a wee prize later on.

Hope this is ok for everyone.
  • Sorry I didn't include a link, apparently i've not posted enough to MSE to unlock that ability :-) Can someone else link it for me please. Thanks.
  • Hi all,

We went away last weekend for a night to try out the caravan we got. Was nice but it's taken me all week to catch back up both in real life and on the net.

I've taken some notes this time, but sorry if I've missed anyone :)

*craftygranny* I hope you are feeling better, and hugs to all of your family - you aren't having a good time of it. I'll be buying the digi stamp for the ear trust and putting links to it on my blog.

*kms26* Glad you know what causes your fainting and hope you've been better since. The glucose tabs someone mentioned are a good backup. I used to carry them when I was pregnant as I had hyperemesis and they kept some of the nausea at bay. That receptionist sounds dreadful - she isn't qualified to determine if someone is an emergency or not. There's no need to tell receptionists what your problem is - that can be confidential between you & your GP. I just say I want an appointment ASAP or I need an appointment but it's not urgent - the rest is none of their business. The NHS direct service is very good - I've used it a couple of times to get some advice when I wasn't sure what to do or needed reassurance - at least you are speaking to someone who is medically qualified.

With regards to your eyelet setter the one I use is similar to this, but had 3 heads not 2:

    http://www.lainesworld.co.uk/L/product/KC1124050300.html

a budget option I use with a hammer and my self healing mat. I've got a crop-a-dile on my wish list, but this works.

With distress inks there's lots you can do with them. I'd been doing the blending on the edges with cheap make up sponges, but at my craft club last time I got to try one of the ranger blending tools and they make it much easier and give a much better effect - definitely recommended - I've got one on order at my local store. We were doing a snowy night sky for a christmas card topper. Masked over the stamp, a round mask for the moon and a torn line for the horizon, then blended the sky. They sprayed water on the distress ink and blotted with kitchen towel, that lifted the ink is spots to look like snow. Will put it on my bl*g when I get a minute and finally put it on a card. There are some more good techniques on these vids:

You can also just use them as water colours.

*pointofnoreturn* and *artydoll* thanks so much for the blog award - I need to put it up and work out who to pass it on to.

*Dtb* glad to hear your childrens crafting session when well - very brave of you!

*Rainmac* hugs to you and your Mum. As someone else said (the_wife?) my mum has had lots of mini strokes and is still going strong. So although strokes can be serious - they aren't necessarily - hope that's some reassurance until you get some definitive answers. Not knowing always makes things so much worse.

*Melissa* like a lot of the others I did some sleep training with my little girl - made me feel very guilty when were doing it but she's nearly five now and sleeps wonderfully well unless she is ill. I found that with sleep things always went two steps forward, one step back. She'd be fine and then get a tooth, then she'd be fine and get a cold, fine and then we moved house. It's not necessarily much comfort when you are tired and frustrated, but most of these things are just phases and they grow out of them. I had a dreadful time with potty training her - until she started school she still had days where she just couldn't be bothered to go to the toilet and would pee where she stood and carry on playing. Now she is fantastic - had barely any accidents for months.

    * Wifey* Sorry your op was cancelled - but it's good to know that they are checking for MRSA and things.

Now I've caught up here and with the blogs - I've got a few starred in my google reader to go and comment - there's some really inspirational things made.

I always seem to have about 20 half finished cards around the place - is anyone else the same - or do you do one all the way to completion?

Also when you are entering things into challenges do you make a card with a challenge in mind - or make one and see what fits?

Thank you Padster and Jowri for your beautiful cards - I'll be blogging those too!

Morning ladies. I hadn't realised that I'd been mia for a week almost - so many pages to catch up on!

Things are completely mad here at the moment - I've been covering a few shifts (I look at it as funds for stash) and my gran seems to have gone downhill very quickly, so instead of just doing her housework and odds and ends on a Monday, I'm now popping up three times a week (an hour round trip, plus whatever time I spend there). She won't even contemplate outside help or moving.

If you're interested I have a £30 giveaway on my blog. The last one was won by Addams, so it would be nice if someone from here won again.

    There's a freebie here

I'm going to be a bit cheeky and ask if anyone who managed to snag the Mo Manning freebie would be prepared to send me a copy?

I've just ordered my txs for the NEC, I'm getting excited now!

    - British Bookshops is where I got your corner chomper. They have fab sales on about 4 times a year and at the end of the sale often put anything left to 50p - I got the honey hugs and paperstack that way:) They are expanding down towards the west country according the girl in my local one.

Rainmac - sorry to hear about your mum, sending you massive hugs

Scattyjan - thanks for the heads up. Hope you get your house sorted, I hate having builders in.

Peppop - sent you a PM

Craftygranny - sorry to hear your news, as a family you really do go through things. x

Sorry if I've missed anyone, hugs to all who need them
