Georgie :T:T:T Congratulations on your commission!! You'll need to find out what kind of invite she's looking for and how complicated it'll be to make and what stash you'll need to use and take it from there. Don't underprice yourself!
  • One of my facebook contacts has been looking at my cards and has asked me to give her a price for 58 wedding invites 150 evening invites.

I've nver done anything like that, and so I have no idea what kind of price to suggest. I have given her a ballpark figure of £200-£250 but neither of us know if that's realistic given that she is only just starting to look.

    What do you think?

Wow! Fantastic. I have absolutely no idea re prices but just wanted to say well done and wish you luck.

Well done on your commission. Like PepPop says don't underestimate the cost of making the invites or the time it will take to make them.

2 years ago I made 40 day invites that I thought would be easy to make, and it was a gatefold card with a piece of ribbon. I charged my friend for the materials I bought to make the cards, and then added £35.00 on top for my time. I really underestimated how long they would take me, and in reality they ended up taking 3 days to make them all so about 27 hours in total so it wasn't worth the £35.00 I made for doing them. If I was to do it again I would charge per card and enough for each card to cover the materials and money on top for how long it may take me so that it at least covered more of my time than the £35.00 I charged for my friends cards.

2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

    Hi Cardpaperscissors,

Seen your gorgeous 40th cards on your b***, can I ask what size cards they are and whether you have a link to a tutorial to make the box. Thanks.

Off to brave the supermarket, haven't been since the week before Christmas, and then have to tackle the housework and ironing.

Will try to make a couple of cards later, in between the chores, and running the kids to football training.

Have a good day everyone xx

Hi CT and thank you for the lovely comments. The cards were made 5 and 3/4 inches square and the boxes, I think, 6 inches square. I have a Martha Stewart Scoreboard so used the instructions from that except the sides of my boxes are not so deep. Have to say I'm not too good at the boxes yet and usually make about 3 lids for every bottom, LOL. A lot of trial and error was involved. I've found this YouTube clip which may help.

Hello - time's been evaporating again! Bed time already and I start reading on here.........

LOL at those in PJs for the evening - I'm the opposite - I didn't get dressed until lunch time today:eek:

Welcome newbies! I've signed up to follow your blogs

Once again, I can't seem to remember what I've read so if I don't mention you by name please don't be offended. What I do remember........

Well Done to those who got in the crafty ribbons challenge, Dragonllew & Scatty and a new lady I think

Wanna B - hope you get your oven fixed and it's nothing too serious.

Gemma - so sorry you didn't get the job you wanted - I'm a great believer in there always being a reason why that stuff happens. Though I can't say the same about your poor Mum's accident I hope she heals well and doesn't need an operation. Well Done on your wins.

Viclspence - Did A & E say the whiplash was from the bump in your car and not just your sneezing? Sounds painful either way (hugs)

Glittermum - good to see you here, glad you're feeling better

Georgiegirl - Try to guide your friend towards a [STRIKE]simple[/STRIKE] classic design, although I haven't done cards for anyone almost everyone on here who has found it always takes longer than they expect and that they haven't charged enough for their time. As CT says when you've timed your first one and costed your materials then set your price.

rainmac - pages ago you mentioned your book club book - I haven't read it but my friend read it on holiday (she wasn't keen but I can't remember why - sorry)

I promise to be a good PepPop and keep up to date from now on. My next challenge is updating my own blog...
Really must go to bed now - night all

    Morning all.

Well done Gemma on your wins.

WBR - Hope you sort your oven out.

PepPop - I know how you feel getting behind. I only managed to catch up over christmas as I had a bit of time. I was the same as you 1000+ behind! I started using the google reader bit that shows the actual blogs and just went to MSE's and ignored the rest!

Anyway, just getting the kids to school. May be back later.
    May - £251.63/£155, June - £108.69/£150, July - £157.45/£155, Aug - £104.28/£155

I am struggling to find an appropriate image to make thank you cards to the god parents.
I have a thank you stamp but wanted to make it a bit more special than just a thank you. any ideas?

Rusty i just read that on facebook, who would do that? Bet the police won't be bothered, My brother had both his wing mirrors and reg plate ripped off before and they didn't care. Even though there could have been finger prints on it as they found one mirror which had been thrown and they may have been CCTV too.
:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys :)

Rusty I'll remember that if I get that far behind again - not that I will - I'm gonna be a good PepPop ;) That's rubbish about your car - what a strange thief although maybe it's just as well or he/she might have wrecked your dashboard.

Louby I know what you mean - they just don't seem to care about that kinda stuff but I bet you they will when your brother's plates appear on another car committing a crime

If you hear me snoring today give me a dunt - late nights and early mornings are not a good combination. CT I'll get your badge done tonight - I need to unpack my external harddrive from wherever I put it before Christmas
