Hsbc scare !!

Hi all,
I spoke to Hsbc last week and sorted out my bank loan 3 months in arrears ! I paid one month off there and then and agreed to set up a standing order to resume my monthly payments and they would add 2 months payments on the end to account for the arrears !If I honoured my payments which I will. But just had call from them asking for the £360 arrears by 1st Oct !!I had trouble understanding what he was saying but explained that a s/o had been set up for 16th oct and it had all been sorted out !but he appeared to be interested in my new Natwest account ! and just had a very scary thought !are Natwest and Hsbc linked !! can they take the full arrears out of my new account ? if they can then i have been lied too and if that happens im left with nothing !!I have spent the last month talking to all my creditors sorting my own debts out and clearing arrears . Please can someone reasure me as IM preying that there will be money left in my natwest ac to live !!:(

  • Hi, I'm pretty sure that HSBC and Natwest are nothing to do with each other so I wouldn't worry about offsetting.

Did you make the agreement over the phone? Maybe it would be a good idea to go into a branch and get it sorted face to face - I know from experience that HSBC call centres are a bit of a nightmare at times!

If you made an agreement I would have thought that this should show up on their systems, but as I say I would go and speak to a human being if you're worried about it! Sorry I can't be of any more help!
  • Your other option would be to write to HSBC, referring to the telephone conversation and confirming what was agreed. At the same time you cold request the Standing Order (unless you have already had this) This way you would have a paper trail should you need it
    Good Luck!
  • Thanks for the advise I have calmed down alittle ! I have tried several times to speak to Hsbc in person but they wont im referred to their collection team line !! which is a nightmare. My own fault I should have asked who I was speaking to at the time the agreement was made, and the second call it is obvious to me that there is no record of it !! so will be very wary in future. I will try again and phone up and speak to someone about this agreement and get some form of confirmation. thanks again

Hiya, just to confirm that HSBC and Natwest are not joined. Natwest are part of RBS but HSBC isnt.
