Need advice about Beneficial finance/HFC

Hi everyone

In a bit of a panic I have a flexible loan account with HFC/Beneficial Finance. Total of £1800. I have fallen behind with my payments which are usually £60 per month. I am currently £120 in arrears now they wont help me. I want to pay but can possibly give them the £120 at the moment I can barely afford to keep a roof over our heads and feed us. I am not running away at all I can give them maybe £20 a month presently. But they wont accept it. They have gven me until 6pm tonight to ring and pay at least £60 and if I dont they will begin Legal proceedings. I am in such a mess I went to my bank for help with my debt and they told me they cant help me.....it sucks bigtime when you are trying to sort youself out but no one will help you. Argh. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks
Mel

  • They can't have what you haven't got - you need to sort out an income and expenses sheet and send it off to them - it is highly unlikley they will put you in court for being a couple of months behind - they are bullying and scaring you.
If they have sent you letters re-read them - they almost always say "we may take legal action" may being the operative word.

Offer what you can afford - theres not alot they can do except make veiled threats.
  • Sorry have only just seen your post. I would have said dont ring them, only deal in writing, that way you have proof of what has been said. You could write to them along the lines of:
Since taking out the above agreement my financial circumstances have changed because...........
At present, therefore, I am only able to offer you £20.00 per month (as long as you are able to do this) and enclose my first payment of this amount.
    Sign digitally.
You could if you like post up a Statement of Affairs (sticky on first page) and the clever people on here will see if there is amywhere you are able to make savings. Good luck and keep posting!
