Advice on Boiler Repair or Replacement
acc

My Potterton Profile 60e gas boiler is not igniting, which I believe may be a problem with the printed circuit board which many other people have reported. I asked a central heating engineer to have a look and he said that the fan works, but the air pressure switch does not. He offered to replace that switch which would cost £55 plus his charge of £90. If after that the boiler still does not light up, he would try changing the pcb, costing £185 plus his charge, etc. As these potential costs could continue to mount up, he suggested replacing the boiler and central heating programmer, at a cost of £1500-£2000 plus an extra £350 for power flush and £100 for magnaclean filter.
Can you experts and people who have been in a similar situation please advise me on the possible repair, and the alternative boiler replacement.
The suggested new boiler is a Baxi Solo 18 HE and ch programmer a Honeywell ST699.
If I opt for a new boiler, what do I need to take into consideration and how does the guarantee work on the overall installation?
Thanks.

the workmanship is normally only guaranteed for 1 yr.Get some gorm.0 -
I can't understand why he can't tell you whether the APS will cure it or not? He should be able to test this and know for certain.
If I was to change it and it didn't cure the boiler problem then why should my customer pay for my lack of knowledge.0
