You won't find anyone who will lend you that level of money (assuming you are not a homeowner).

I would seriously consider getting some free professional debt advice from one of the charities and possibly consider a debt relief order or bankruptcy (that is not a lecture by the way, just my advice). . IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.

  • Looking for a loan shark is just asking for trouble. You will not solve your debt problems by going to those type of lenders. If anything you will make your situation 100% worse.
What you should do is speak to one of the debt charities who will be able to advise you on what options you do have without worsening your situation or putting yourself or your children at risk at the hand of loan sharks.

She's going to have a hard job unless she's got paperwork to prove that it was a loan and not a gift to you and your now ex...
With the greatest of respect, how did you manage to get in 15k of debt from family and friends?

Rather than go near loan sharks or even consider them I would suggest you would be far better letting her try to take you to court. Unless there is a written agreement to prove that this was a loan and repayment terms were agreed she will probably have a hard time proving the loan exists at all.

Even if you went to court and she could prove the loan then you would then still be able to repay in monthly repayments at an amount you could afford (set by the judge). Which would be cheaper and safer than using a loan shark.

  • we have 2 guarantour loans with her each for 3 grand each, and we owe her 3 grand in personal debts and she took out 2 catalogues 4 us
  • Hi - I agree with the other posters - rather than owing a loan shark/another lender more money - perhaps it would be best to try and set up repayments plans to companies and friends/family - even if it's just 10/20 a month - it shows willing.
If you seek help from a debt charity the debt companies will have to like it or lump it - they could take you to court but if a judge sees you are getting help from a debt charity they aren't going to make you pay more than you can afford and will probably agree with the debt charity.

Good Luck and I hope you can get things sorted.

Are the guarantor loans in your name or hers? Who exactly is the guarantor? Are there arrears?

Please take the advice you have been given above.

Your intended path will lead to MUCH more pain.

    This bit puzzles me:
who can lend me 15000 to clear debts completely
You do understand you will not clear any debts at all, you will still owe over £20k if you manage to acquire a £15k loan??

Is there any reason your ex MIL is chasing you for the debt and not her son? Was he not an equal recipient of the money?

If by the 2 guarantor loans you mean that you took out a loan with a company and she agreed to be a guarantor then you do not owe her that money. If you cannot afford to pay the loans or have defaulted on them, then by her agreeing to be a guarantor she has also agreed to take on responsibility for paying that debt.

With regards to the £3k personal debt between you and her then you could choose to arrange to pay her at a rate you can afford per month (although if it was my MIL then I'd at most be agreeing to pay half and expect her son to pay the other half). But if there is no written agreement then you could choose not to pay her anything and risk her trying to take you to court, where she is likely to have little success. But it sounds like you want to pay it back if you are considering trying to get a loan for it so I would work out what you can afford to pay her and then offer her a monthly repayment you can afford.

Again with the catalogues she is legally responsible for paying these and would have a hard time proving in court that anything purchased and given to you was not a gift. But again you could choose to pay her back at a monthly amount you can afford.
