does anybody know where i can get cheap hampers from

I have got a couple of 30th birthdays to buy for this year and wanted to get something different, i'm thinking about a hamper but alot of them are mainly just food based. I was thinking more chocs, wine, gift set or maybe just make my own, but i need to know where to get a cheap basket from, any ideas?

  • Last Christmas we had the same idea for my mother in law (that was to buy her a hamper - not put her in one!)...After various searching and tutting at prices we decided to make our own.
We bought a cheap wicker basket from Wilkinsons, and then filled it with various goodies from Marks and Spencer, Tescos finest etc. She was really pleased as we'd bought all sorts of stuff that she would like to treat herself to, but never felt she could really afford it.
So consequently she got a good selection, we only bought stuff we knew she would like (in a shop bought hamper they may be something you dont want), and now we have many 'brownie points'!!
Any fool can pay full price!!
  • yeh i think that seems the best idea to get my own, any idea how much baskets are in wilkos?

Before going to a shop try a local charity shop as you may be able to get something there. Not only cheaper but also a good cause benefits :):)

Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
    Preemie hats - 2.
  • I bought a couple of cheap baskets in Tesco at Xmas to make up hampers..

Or do you have a local pound/cheap shop?

I went to a local flower market to buy cellophane wrap, but the amount I wanted was little to them, so they gave it me free of charge! Worth a try perhaps?

Used my paper shredder to shred coloured paper, plus bow, they looked a treat.

Saw in Waitrose today that they have a very good collection of herbs, spices, garlic vinegars, oils etc.(own brand), with good packaging which I thought would look great for a hamper.

We have a local store which sells fresh bread, deli items etc. If you have a deli in your area they will probably be able to make one up for you. I had some made a couple of xmases ago and good value - plus you pick what goes in them.

    Or try

These are 2 of the offers available ranging from 15.00 to 75.00 depends how much you want to pay.

I have used them many times and can recommend them. They also have packages on Ideal World TV channel occasionally
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T
