Aviva Endowments,advice requested

Options
I currently have 3 Aviva 'Homemaker' endowment policies the first of which was taken out in December 1986 and matures in December 2011,the other two mature in early 2012.Each policy is backed with the 'Mortgage Promise'
Together the sum assured is £46,000.The first mentioned policy being the largest at £26,000 sum assured.
Over the last year I have periodically contacted Aviva for the current surrender values.
I contacted Aviva in September 2009 and together the combined surrender values of the policies was £24,534.55.
I next contacted Aviva in March 2010 and the combined surrender values were £27,000.
I contacted Aviva again in July and again the combined surrender vakues had risen by a further £1637
However,I cotacted Aviva today and the combined surrender value had actually fallen for the first time this year by £650.
Has the past two months been particularly bad for the endowment market ?. Could this downward trend continue or is a return to endowment growth expected over the next few months/year.
I appreciate noone has a crystal ball but any opinions would be appreciated.

Endowments dont make or lose money (nor does any tax wrapper). Its the investments that do that. The markets are lower than they were earlier in the year.

Crystal ball job. No-one can tell what is next. Although more people are saying things will improve on the markets next year compared to those that say they wont.
