    He started it

    And you continued it...............

    Seriously though, does that help?

There was nothing smarmy about his reply to your original post. He gave you a factual and helfpul reply based on what you had said.

Post 3 was the the one which appeared to be having a go at financial advisers.

Perhaps I'm doing Dunstonh a disservice by saying he misunderstood your reply - it does appear as if you are having a go from what you said in Post 5.

Cannot see how to post it as you request because i am new to posting sorry .

    No problem.

Easiest way is to just hit "Quote" and add your reply to the bottom.

I thought that, and thought I had done that but how do you split the quotes into sections please?

You did hit the Quote button but then put your replies into the middle of my quoted post. If you had even used a different coulour of font it might have worked better.
but how do you split the quotes into sections please?

At the front of each section put [ quote ] and at the end of each section put [ /quote ]. Miss out the spaces before and after each bracket though.

Dunstonh, had a go at me by making out I was chasing the market which as I pointed out in my second post was not true .Everything he says in his reply has smug I know best in its candor. You can twist it any way you want and play on both our words but I can read what Dunstonhs demeanor says and it is as I say. “Smug and superior”, loads of his posts prove it.

Seems a pretty sensible observation to me - you pulled out into cash to prevent possible losses (I assume) so you appeared to be chasing the market.

With further clarification you then told us that wasn't your reason - fair enough.

So why add on the bit about financial advisers and hindsight if all you wanted to do was clear up your reasons?

I'm not trying to twist anyone's words - I'm simply pointing out how I read it.

It seems that 19,462 posters think otherwise.

OK as you say you can’t argue with 19,462 thanks. I bet he has had a few attacks along the way though with his attitude.

I don't think it's attitude at all - although some of his replies can be a a bit brief and as such perceived as rudeness.

Remember, DunstonH is posting guidance and help here in his free time and it's not uncommon for the same questions to be asked several times a week so there is a reason for the brevity.

You can get a lot of help from these forums, but if you start a slanging match, especially as a new poster you'll find your request for help will just be ignored.

Hermanmunster, welcome to MSE, we seem to be about the same age. As you have found out, there are some here who regard themselves as beyond criticism.
Some describe such an attitude as arrogant, I make no comment.

    But as to your question....
I will have to start by saying, that I regard personal pensions as the highest risk investment anybody can make, and have never recomended them. But as you have made that investment, you now have a decision to make.

If you think there are prospects of recovery or 'green shoots' then leave your pension as is, if not then it is time to cash in. And yes, my position is that there are no signs of recovery, and you should make safe what you can.

I would recomend gold if you don't need the cash right now. If gold is not for you then there are alternatives as I am sure you know.

    Best of fortune.
