Anyone got married at Westminster Register Office (aka The Old Marylebone Town Hall)?

Hi all
Bf and I are getting married at Westminster Register Office
We are going to meet with the registrar nearer the time to go through a few things, but there are some photography-related things I am curious about right now.
I know RO ceremonies are quite short but we hope to stay inside the building (corridors, stairs etc) for a short while after the wedding to take pics. Is this feasible? Bf thinks that they have a staggered schedule for weddings so they don't have too many taking place at once - is this right?
We would also like some pics outside the building, on the steps. Again, is this feasible given this is a public building - were you able to get pics which didn't have members of the public/other wedding parties in?
I've seen (from photographers' websites etc) that other people have managed to get pics in these areas, but wasn't sure how easy it is or whether or not it is quite rushed.
TIA
Suze

What time is your wedding?
I used to work down the road from the Town Hall (which is beautiful!) and when i used to sneak out of work early - around 3-4pm, it is pretty quiet. It is on a main road, but a pretty quiet area as long as you are not there in commuter times when ppl are walking from Marylebone station or Taxis piling up to go to paddington...
It also tends to be quiet on weekends so if it is on a weekend you shouldnt have a problem.
Why dont you visit the RO and ask them how it works? I visited an RO on the weekend and everyone has a 30min slot for the ceremony which is usually only takes 20mins max, then they have about 10mins (it was right next to the ceremony room which is why it had to be cleared out before next ceremony), then as much time as they wanted out front. I think it really depends on the layout of the building so you dont disturb the people afterwards.
Hope that helps!:A0 -

Thanks for your reply. Our wedding is in the morning, after the rush hour. In true MSE style we're getting married on a weekday
It's nice to know the area is generally quiet.
We are going to book a slot with the registrar to go over a few things, including this, but thought I'd ask on here too. We have a short slot in the room, but bf is under the impression they stagger the appointments there (based on what they said when he rang up to book the ceremony).
cheers!

Maybe... I did try and make the subject as self-explanatory as possible so people would not have to waste their time looking at the thread if it wasn't relevantbubbles0169 wrote: »what about when your outside asking somebody to stand guard and ask members of the public to stay out of the shot for a second
Thanks for the suggestion.

Ohhh I see... :Pbubbles0169 wrote: »your welcome, let us know how your planings going:D
Will do. Luckily I don't have much planning to do as we are only having a small wedding. But what I have noticed is that it doesn't matter how small the wedding is, there are ALWAYS politics involved...
