I need to get a Rayburn serviced. Has anyone got any contacts in the Co. Antrim/ Ballymena area?
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry I can't help you as I live in Newtownards. However, as an aside, we inherited a Rayburn in June this year. We put in 600 litres of oil in the middle of July.. and it's run out this week. £240 worth of oil in 11 weeks
As and when you get hold of an engineer, maybe you could ask him how much oil you should expect to burn and post it here? We're terrified!0 -
Ours seems to go on for ever on almost no oil. However, it is a single oven and heats domestic water only. We keep it at minimum setting which provides a nice background heat in the house, plenty of hot water and a kettle is always on top. The electric kettle has been consigned to the cupboard!mr.roboto wrote:Sorry I can't help you as I live in Newtownards. However, as an aside, we inherited a Rayburn in June this year. There are some consumption figures here.

These are for AGA's but I guess there shouldn't be much difference with Rayburns.
Perhaps a service might help?Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.0 -

Thanks for that... not sure we match up to those figures. We're trying to get the temp indicator to stay in the middle of the word "simmer", as it was tending to sit just on the edge of "bake" all the time.0

It's worth considering doing some maintenance yourself. Having watched our stove being serviced it is clear that with oil Agas (Rayburn are much the same) most of the service consists of cleaning the burner and replacing the wicks. The parts cost a couple of pounds and the work is quite simple. As they need two services a year, I took to doing the work myself and calling a man in every 2 or 3 years just to be sure all was well. Sorry I can't help you find someone in NI (except yourself!).0

Funny you should say that. I found the attached on the web and thought I might give it a go.martindow wrote:It's worth considering doing some maintenance yourself.
