I phoned them today and they said they had a lot of requests(Think he said about 150,000 but I may have misheard)and have ordered some more keyrings and are gradually going to work through the backlog!

true, neither have i
they might be genuine when they say they were overwhelmed with requests but if quantities were limited, they could've said something like 'the first xxxx will get it'
as long as they're not using it as bait to just get your details it's ok though, after all you didn't pay anything for it

Nope, I had forgotten about these. I think it best to apply and then be surprised when the postman delivers something to you, opening it to find out what your treasure is!
