Hi there.

I am hoping for some help.

I am having money problems - ongoing.... and I have a BIG problem with simply be/reliable collections.

The short of it is I owe them £1516 - over half of this money is in late payment and admin charges. I have tried everything to get them to take the charges off but they will not budge.

I have no issue paying back the money I actually owe them but I have stopped my monthly payments as the money I do have at the moment is limited and all they are doing is applying it to charges and it just isnt fair as I feel I will never get the debt paid off.

I asked for a copy of my credit agreement as I didnt believe the charges were in line with with I agreed to and they said I didnt sign a credit agreement and so I cant have a copy.

Can someone offer any advice. I am really at my wits end. If they would just let me pay what I owe it wouldnt be a problem but as I said around £800 of this is in charges :(

Thanks in advance

  • Who was the original debt with and what for?

It looks like the debt is actually unenforceable if they cannot give a credit agreement.

  • Th original debt is with simply be catalogue.

  • OK did you ask for your credit agreement in writing and did they reply in writing?

  • I asked them on the phone as they called demanding payment again.

She told me I dont have a credit agreement with them and so they cant supply that. She said I would have agreed to the terms and conditions online when i signed up by ticking a box and that they don't issue credit agreements and that me clicking the continue button was me committing to the terms and conditions of the company.... to include any of their charges etc...

So what do I do? If they would just say I can pay off my debt and not all these charges I would be able to do that, but just cannot allow these charges to be added like this
  • You need to write to them ask ask for the terms and conditions and for a copy of the signed credit agreement. If you talk to them on the phone, they win both ways. They can bully you and they can fob you off

  • so if we establish i dont have a credit agreement with them and they have nothing signed by me then where do I go from here?

Anyone else have experience with this company?
  • Hello - just noticed this

My partner has similar issue with Simply Be/Reliable collection. Owes about £350 but now every letter arrives with huge amount added on to this. Partner has been making token payments and writing each week

    1. to tell them to stop ringing (now keeping log of calls - yesterday was 8 calls)
    2. To inform that setting up DMP with CCCS
    3. Hasnt had any acknowledgment of letters - just standard statements and threatening style letters - pay up or else type:eek:

She finally called them today and spoke to somebody who said that yes they have received letters and payments but that they are "ENTITLED" to ring all the time. Angry words were exchanged and new letter fired off about phone calls and harassment etc.

Hope that makes you feel better. We are leaving everything in hands of CCCS now but will probably send the letter with £1 asking for Credit agreeement and see what they come up with - just for a laugh :rotfl:

RON - feeling better every day now that DMP is underway.:j
