Sorry about your eyes Nicca.. there are loads of things that you can do to soothe the eye, if you're definitely sure its Conjunctivitis.
A cotton disc soaked in witch hazel onto closed eyes will really help the irritation and swelling.
A compress of boiled water with a couple of drops of either Chamomile, rose or Lavender oil will all help to soothe it. Or you could make an eye wash, of Honey (great antibacterial, couple of tablespoons into about half pint of boiled water, cooled and then used as an eyewash several times daily) , Milk (use warm milk as eye wash), baking soda (1/4 teaspoon into quarter pint of water is a great eye wash) and loads more too.
Oooh, thank you Geebee! I will try some of them! I'm assuming it's conjunctivitis because they are sticky and weepy and will not open in the morning. I've had antibiotic drops for a week and also have simple eye oitment (pretty much like vaseline but especially for the eyes) for the stinging around the rims. But pretty sure the amount of clutter I have around the house is not helping, so hoping once that's sorted and now my fringe isn't hanging into them, that it'll clear up! Just wish it's bl**dy hurry up about it! It's not fun wandering around as though you've been crying constantly!(or wanting to cry 'cos you think it'll help rinse out your eyes!

You have my sympathy Nicca, i got it a couple of times as a child and then about a year ago my son got it. I felt so sorry for him, i could have cried. The witch hazel treatment really does help though, i used it about 4 times daily on my son and he was clear in about 4 days. He found it very calming on his eyes.If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them~Dalai LamaHow people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours~Wayne DyerLet none find fault in others. OOh Nicca that really does sound nasty and you've had it a while now haven't you? I hope the remedies suggested by our very own resident herbalist helps ease the problem. Years ago, I used to get similar problems with my eyes due to my hayfever, but I don't get that now, I'm happy to say
