Fujifilm FinePix S2500 HD

I've always been interested in photography but never really done anything about it. I currently have a Fujifilm FinePix Z1 5.1MP which I've had for a couple of years but, although it is in pristine condition, I'm now ready to start persuing a hobby which I am hoping will give me great benefits in the future.
After much comparison and decision making I have finally set my heart on a Fujifilm FinePix S2500HD 12MP camera. Has anybody got one of these? I am quite surprised at how good the features and settings on it are, especially with it being offered for just £146.60 on Amazon. I'd like to get this from my grandparents for Christmas so hopefully the deal won't expire any time soon.
If anybody else into photography and know about cameras then I'd love your feedback on this camera. Does it produce good quality images? Are the settings and features offered enough/more than enough for a beginner looking to learn more and become a regular? Also, if anyone knows of any good photography forums that I can sign up to I'd like to hear them. I've searched Google but don't want to sign up to the first that comes up in search results if there is better out there.

If your looking for opinions other than from MSE user then try AVForums, they have a Digital Photography section on there that might be helpful.
You could also try searchig the MegaShopbot for cheaper pricer [if this is possible].
And not forgetting the Cashback-Sites Maximiser.0 -
Thanks Lugh_Cronain, I will check their forum out too. Through MSE I managed to find a 30% off voucher for Fujifilm's online show meaning I can get the camera for £139.99 and I am very happy with that. I couldn't find any sites that offer cashback on Fuji but I'm already getting a great bargain so no loss really. I'll stick with that because I know it's coming from the official company rather than a 3rd party, but thank you for your suggestions!

No, you won’t get any sites offering cashback for purchases from Amazon, though you should be able to get Nectar points if you shop via Nectars website [if you think it's worth it].

Trouble is its hardly a "Compact".......compared with say a Canon Ixus....."Big" cameras are great if you can be bothered to carry them around.0

The new Canon Ixus has a 10 zoom, trouble is its £350!0

That's expensive for a camera, but only the RRP is £350. You can get it here on Play for £270 and there's bound to be other bargains if you shop around. It's still expensive for that though considering I'm getting the S2500HD for £140 (RRP £200) with 12.2MP and 18x digital zoom to say the least. True Canon may be seen as a better brand in some peoples eyes and many will argue that you'd be paying for quality over quantity, but I have always disagreed with this when relating to technology. If you know how to look after and use the product properly then you will have no problems.
