Poor credit, need a loan HELP!

Hi all

need help. I have quiet poor credit due to a spell of unemployment i had last year where i missed some bills and what not, dont want to get into too much detail.

I have recently found myself in some financial trouble and like a fool, I turned to them pay day loans. I now owe a fair bit on them as well as a few other outstanding pieces of debt. I need around £3k to polish them off, and have a bit left i can put aside for future emergencies. I have tried all the main high street banks and building societys, and have been flat out refused.

Is there anywhere i can go, where i can get a loan that is not just about my credit score, but maybe based on my salary and ability to pay back the loan. I have had a look on the web, but a lot of teh ones that come up seem to be cons that charge you anything from £40 - £80 to proccess the loan then not bother getting back to you.

I am not looking for advice really, just somewhere i would be able to get the £3k im looking for, even £2k would be enough.

Thanks for any help thats given!!

Give these guys a shout. You can be the first MSE Test Case into how good they are.

EDIT: I see they lend up to £500.

Still, in your case with the limited info we have getting a £3k loan is not the best plan.

MyHomeFinance will be cheaper but if it's not available in your area, try LendersCompared instead. That's the site set up by the Office of Fair Trading as a result of their investigation into the doorstep lending market and it may have a cheaper option than the payday loans.

Try to resist the temptation to borrow any more than absolutely necessary from these loan sources. They are very expensive and it'll be better to approach them for more money later if you do find that you need more than to pay the interest on more than you absolutely must have.
  • Hi Dave - what I would do is:
    a) get a new bank account away from anyone you owe money to as the payday loans people will try and take the money you owe them from your bank aco!!!! (in some cases even if you try and set up a payment plan) and leave you no-money for food/bills etc - so get a new bank aco!!!! set up asap and get you salary trasnferred across.
    b) then get in touch with the payday loans people and make a repayment plan based on what you can afford - even if it's 1 pound per month as a token of goodwill for the moment.

I'm not sure you would get a new loan given that you have been using payday loans people (suggests a bad credit history) and a new loan is not neceassrily going to solve the problem. I think getting debt advice from one of the main charities such as CCCS (consumer credit counselling services), National Debtline or your local CAB is going to be your best way forward, along with getting a new bank account.
Good Luck and if you need any more help/support/advice etc - why not head over to the Debtfreewannabe board?

I'd avoid any further borrowing if I were you, it might be based on salary but your ability (or willingness) to actually pay back any loans seems a bit thin on the ground..

Have you really looked at your expenditure before you borrow more?
